August 2010

Get Ready for Family Fun Day!

Once again, St. Thomas Parish will have a Family Fun Day with games, food and fun for all ages. There will be an outdoor Mass at 4:00 p.m. Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 26. If you would like to help out with the planning or by volunteering for the day, please call Pat Archfield at 978-250-1710 or the rectory at 978-658-4665.

Please Help with Back-to-School Supplies

As you buy school supplies for your own kids, please pick up a few extra and bring them to the church. We are collecting school supplies, which will be distributed through Catholic Charities in Lowell to families in need. There will be boxes at the entrances to the church through the middle of August. Most needed are: backpacks for high school students, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, markers, glue, pencil boxes, rulers and scissors. Thank you for you continued generosity to this project.

Protecting God’s Children Classes To Be Held in September

Protecting God’s Children classes will take place in the basement of the church on the following dates:

  • Thursday, September 9, 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 12, after the 11:15 a.m. Mass

Please call the rectory if you plan to attend and indicate which class time.

New CORI Forms—2010–2011—Are Here

Volunteers in any parish ministry who have the potential for unmonitored access to children are required to fill out a CORI form annually. The forms are in the sacristy.

If this is your first time filling out a CORI form, please be sure to take a blue form. Please note, each volunteer must provide a government-issued photographic identification (Massachusetts license, United States passport, etc.) to verify his or her identity.

Support the St. Thomas Charities Committee Food Collection

The Weekend of August 21–22 the Charities Committee will be collecting food for the Wilmington Food Pantry. The Food pantry is especially in need of grape jelly, tuna, canned fruit and condiments. All donations may be dropped off in Villanova Hall that weekend.

Would You Be Willing to Teach the Faith?

The CCD Office is in need of volunteers, including teachers, office help and hall monitors. You can make a difference in a child’s life. Please call the CCD office at 978-658-6040.

Our Summer Hours Are in Effect
